Rick is 2013 Chair of the Nonprofit Organization Law Section.
Rick has been practicing for almost 30 years representing businesses & individuals, financial service providers, non-profit organizations, and parties to real property sales, leasing and financing transactions in several areas of law including real estate, corporate, financial services, nonprofit, and debtor-creditor.
He has broad experience and particular expertise in real estate law where his practice includes commercial purchases and sales, financing transactions, development and commercial leasing work for large and small properties. He also works with businesses on formation of entities, mergers and acquisitions, borrowing and secured transactions, and general contract review and advising.
Rick represents numerous nonprofit corporations on formation, governance and tax exempt organization issues.
Nonprofit Corporations Law
- Assist with formation, recognition of tax exempt status and governance standards for nonprofit corporation providing in-home medical care to medically fragile children
- Represent private foundation with development and purchase of commercial condominium for use as corporate headquarters
- Provide routine representation in relation to gift and endowment issues, gift receipting, conflicts of interest, preservation of tax-exempt status and applications for real property tax exemptions, and leasing and purchase transactions
